IVANJICA, Serbia, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe is conducting a training workshop in Serbia aimed at countering terrorist financing networks.

The OSCE, along with experts from the United States and Italy, is conducting a two-day training seminar on investigative methods and techniques to combat financing for terrorist organizations and transnational criminal groups, the OSCE reported.

The training, taking place in the Serbian city of Ivanjica, is part of an OSCE initiative to increase the capabilities and number of tools at the disposal of security authorities and other law enforcement personnel in countering terrorist money laundering.

"The goal of the training course was to improve the familiarity of local judiciary and police representatives with money laundering investigation techniques and the role of their institutions in the fight against this type of crime," Daniel Lemisch, resident legal adviser at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, said in a statement.
