The Coast Guard on Monday released the new command, control, communications, computers and information technology strategy, which officials say is designed to enhance and modernize the agency, the Coast Guard reported.
The C4&IT plan lays the groundwork for the Coast Guard's strategy for the next five years. Officials say the plan focuses on advancing information technology and security capabilities, among other objectives.
"This strategy confirms our commitment to delivering world-class C4&IT solutions in support of the Coast Guard's missions of maritime safety, security and stewardship," Rear Adm. David Glenn, C4&IT assistant commandant, said in a statement.
"The Coast Guard needs C4&IT to seamlessly communicate and share information. This plan identifies specific initiatives and milestones so that we may continue to meet this need."
