AMMAN, Jordan, July 3 (UPI) -- Jordanian and Iraqi authorities spoke in Amman about the possibilities of exchanging prisoners not linked to terrorism, an envoy said.

Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Saad Hayyani said the two sides have been in negotiations regarding the exchange of "non-political" prisoners during the past year, the Jordanian Times reported.

Hayyani said there were around 50 Iraqi detainees held in Jordan. The two sides discussed the prisoner exchange would proceed provided the detainees completed their prison terms in their country of origin.

"We will forward the suggestion to our government," Hayyani said.

Various media report circulated Thursday suggesting Jordan's King Abdullah II will arrive in Baghdad in the coming weeks marking the first such visit by an Arab monarch since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
