It said a decision had been taken to facilitate free movement of security forces deployed in the anti-insurgency operations. According to a top Interior Ministry official, the state government expressed concern over frequent militant attacks on security personnel in the state.
He said attacks by insurgent groups severely affected the implementation of projects such as the gauge-conversion project of the Indian Railways and the National Highway project.
He said that the government will initially buy at least four bulletproof buses and four small vehicles for the movement of security personnel and to transport the workers of the North East Electric Power Corp. from the residential area to the Kopili project power houses.
