BAGHDAD (AFP) A total of three people died on Friday in two bomb attacks, one in Baghdad and one in the main northern city of Mosul, Iraqi security sources said.

A bomb exploded around midday (0900 GMT) in a market in the centre of Mosul, killing two people and wounding 12, a police officer told an AFP correspondent.

Mosul, capital of Niniveh province, is regarded as Al-Qaeda's last urban stronghold in Iraq and is one of the country's most dangerous cities.

In Baghdad, a booby trap bomb exploded near a minibus in the southern neighbourhood of Dora shortly after an American patrol had passed by, an interior ministry official said on condition of anonymity.

One civilian died and a dozen were wounded, the official said.
