Iranian police had the gang under surveillance for three months, and worked in coordination with the international police agency, Interpol, commander Ahmad Roozbahani from Tehran police told the semi-official Fars news agency.
"This gang transferred women from Central Asian countries to Persian Gulf countries for trade ... 15 non-Iranian women and 10 Iranian men have been arrested," he said, without specifying whether any victims were among those detained.
The gang was based in the capital Tehran and its neighboring town of Karaj, as well as in the southern port towns of Bandar Abbas and Minab in Hormozgan province.
"The Iranian ringleader would pick up the women at the airport and transfer them to a house in Tehran, and then take them overland to Minab, and eventually send them to the Persian Gulf countries on boats.
"According to the gang members' confessions, they have so far trafficked 100 foreign women through Iran," Roozbahani said.
