Boozy smell story stinks
An actor was jailed for drunken driving after his lawyer failed to produce evidence to back up his client's defence that he wasn't actually drunk, he only seemed to be drunk. The actor claimed that he suffered from a stomach complaint and had been taking pills that gave off a distinctive boozy smell that aroused the nostrils of the traffic police. The defence wafted right out of court when the prosecution showed that the actor had crashed into another car - and hit a police officer. (From Al Wafd)
Shoppers were swappers

They would carefully examine the goods but then declare that they weren't impressed enough to buy. However, with a bit of skilful sleight of hand they pocketed the real stuff and then handed substitute fake gold back to the shop assistants. (From Al Wafd)

Rural life no idyll in the city
The residents of a street in Cairo filed a complaint stating that their road was the worst in the city. They argued that their doormen had become bakers who sold bread on the sidewalks. They said the doormen had also brought "hundreds if not thousands" of farm animals to keep and sell, letting them roam free on the street. Residents said it was like living in a rural area rather than in the heart of the city. (From Al Wafd)
